competition 2008
Syllabus

The JKKA follows the original IKKA syllabus as laid down by Grand Master Ed Parker.  New members start off with a white belt and have to progress through the different belt rankings from Yellow to Orange then Purple, Blue, Green, Brown (3 levels) and Black.

Juniors can start from the age of 5 until 10 when they move up to the cadet level which goes up to the age of 15.  The junior and cadet belt rankings are the same as the adults but they are not required to know as many techniques and forms as the adults.  The Junior syllabus to Black belt being equivalent to an adult Purple belt and the Cadet syllabus to Black being equal to an adult Green belt.

Each colour belt up to and including Green is divided into 2 stages REGULAR and ADVANCED which is indicated by a strip of the next corresponding colour advancement. There are regular examinations to enable us to acknowledge progress and to award belts.
